Meet our Spotlight of the Month: Sam Hollenbeck! Sam is a student at Westlake High School who loves to make music and takes the initiative to give back to his community.
When Sam was 10, he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. He became an advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and looks at his circumstance as an opportunity to change the world. In addition to his activism, Sam recently wrote a song called “I Still Love You” and donates all the proceeds to JDRF. In March, Sam used his love for music and passion for helping others to create Yike the Crike, a music festival where all of the proceeds were donated to a local non-profit called Side By Side Kids. Way to have heart, Sam!
“Seeing the ways that Yike the Crike Music Festival is creating awareness about people in our community and making opportunities to help change their lives pushes and inspires me to be kind every day.”
