What is Kind Leadership?

Kind Leadership is a four year self-paced program for high-school age students to build on their leadership skills and traits that are directly connected to our TKC® Pillars: Self Image, Emotional Awareness, Empathy, and Community. Throughout the program, Kind Leaders will develop:

  • Kind Leadership is a comprehensive program designed for high school students to develop strong leadership skills while promoting kindness and empathy.

    The program consists of three main components: completing 6 volunteer hours per Kind Leadership year, designing and implementing a Kind Leadership project that contributes positively to the community, and working on skill-building tools within the Kind Leadership program.

  • Each Kind Leader will be required to attend at least 4 meetings per Kind Leadership year, as well as the end-of-year summit. A total of 10 meetings will be offered throughout the year.

  • You have the flexibility to choose volunteer opportunities that align with your interests and skills. These can include working with local charities, community centers, or even starting your own initiative.

  • Your Kind Leadership project should resonate with you! Targeting a cause you are passionate about, your project should also address a specific need or issue within your community. It should ideally align with the principles of kindness and positively impact those around you.

  • Yes! We will be communicating virtually for all meetings. There will be an in-person end of year summit to celebrate and share your projects with your fellow Kind Leaders.

  • This program equips you with practical leadership skills and encourages you to approach leadership with a focus on kindness and empathy. It helps you develop the ability to inspire and motivate others positively, as well as better your own community.

  • Kind Leadership is a self-paced four-year program and includes a combination of self-paced skill-building tools, virtual meetings, and an end-of-year summit to round out each year.

  • Kind Leadership covers a range of topics including communication, social awareness, self-management, thinking as a leader, and inquiry skills. The program is designed to spark creativity through independent endeavors, while also building strategies for leading through kindness.

  • All materials (including Kind Leadership skill-building tools, projects, and volunteer hours) must be completed by the end-of-year summit, which will be held at the end of May. Yes, those who successfully fulfill the volunteer hours, complete their Kind Leadership project, and finish the tools will receive a certificate of completion, recognizing their dedication to becoming Kind Leaders.

  • You will have dedicated TKC mentors who will guide you through the program, help track your volunteer hours and project development, and provide feedback on your leadership journey.

  • Yes! Engaging in meaningful volunteer work, spearheading a personal passion project, and completing leadership skills can stand out on college applications, showcasing your commitment to personal growth and community betterment.

  • Although recommended, it is not necessary to complete all four years of the program. However, the deeper you dive in, the more opportunity for growth. Each year offers very exciting ways to foster your personal journey of Kind Leadership. Our program is designed for high school-level students and your Kind Leadership journey can begin in any high school grade.
